This position requires a thorough working knowledge of worker’s compensation reimbursement model(s), paid claims analysis (including an understanding of coding and medical terminology), appeals processing and full task resolution. The position requires the ability to professionally access claims and supporting documentation from various client data bases. The Claim Analyst will handle a queue of frequently complex, under paid worker’s compensation claims that in addition to FACS will be processed thru our WC re-pricing software. Responsibilities of the position include the accurate verification of underpayments, gathering of all necessary claims information, appealing underpayment with payer, performing appropriate and timely follow-up, occasionally negotiating a resolution to disputed reimbursement issues and verifying proper resolution of said appeal(s).
Some of the qualities we are seeking include the following:
- Ability to be well organized and pay careful attention to details
- Knowledge and experience with fee schedules and claims pricing
- Knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/ICD-9 coding
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Above average experience with Excel
- Understanding of CPT guidelines, use of modifiers, procedures, bundling and unbundling of charges etc.
